Barry Strine, President of Strine’s Heating & A/C has been awarded the 2019 Mack Smith Award from the York Builders Association (YBA). This award is part of the PEAK Achievement Awards, presented annually by YBA. The Mack Smith Award recognizes an individuals commitment to the goals and objectives of the Association and their contribution to the Association, the profession, and their community.
Finding an award-winning contractor just got a lot easier. Consumers in York County, along with industry professionals from across Pennsylvania have spoken and the York Builders Association is pleased to announce the 2019 PEAK Achievement Award winners. These awards recognize excellence in all aspects of the building industry, from building, remodeling, and outdoor projects to design, marketing and service to the community. Winners were honored at the 2019 PEAK Achievement Awards Banquet on May 9 at the Out Door Country Club in York.
The demand for workers in the construction trades continues to grow, and the York Builders Association (YBA) is committed to spreading awareness about the tremendous career opportunities available locally through events like Construction Career Days. The second annual event took place over several days and included five host companies and nine area high schools. Approximately 80 students participated.
The 51st Annual York Builders Association (YBA) Home & Garden Show will return to the York Expo Arena at the York Fairgrounds February 8 10, 2019. The Home & Garden Show provides inspiration for home improvement projects of all kinds and gives area residents an opportunity to see and learn about the latest indoor and outdoor home and garden products and services from over 150 experts under one roof. The York Builders Association (YBA) recently installed Shonna Cardello of White Rose Settlement Services, Inc. as the 2019 President at a special event held at the Out Door Country Club. Cardello will serve as President of the YBA Board of Directors for a term of one year.
Dover contractor and owner of Start-Living Homes Larry Mellott was recently recognized for his extraordinary service & long-term commitment to the home building industry as a life director. 2018 marks Mellott’s 10 years of directorship at both the local and state levels, designating him as a life director.
The York Builders Association (YBA), the community’s trusted building industry resource, recently launched a new brand initiative. The WorkforceNOW brand will serve as the umbrella which covers all of YBA’s programs designed to support workforce development.
YORK, PA – For the first time in nearly a decade, new construction codes will go into effect in Pennsylvania on October 1, 2018. As a result of the PA Uniform Construction Code (UCC) Review and Advisory Council’s (RAC) report submitted to the Department of Labor and Industry on May 1, the majority of provisions contained in the 2015 International Code Council (CC) Model Codes will be adopted.
Over the last several months the York Builders Association’s (YBA) Workforce Committee put a lot of time and effort into planning our first Construction Career Days events, which took place on April 16 – 18. Outreach to schools and students is a major focus of our strategic plan. During a meeting with York County Economic Alliance, we were approached with the offer to take over their construction day program previously held in April 2017. It was a perfect fit for our new goals and objectives and the association’s Board of Directors approved the adoption of the program.
