The PEAK Achievement awards recognize excellence in all aspects of the building industry, from building and remodeling, to community service, outdoor projects, and designs. Strine, along with other award winners was honored at the 2019 PEAK Achievement Awards Banquet on May 9 at the Out Door Country Club in York.

Barry officially took over the family business in 1992 and has since served in many capacities at the York Builders Association, including Chair of the Home & Garden Show Committee, Treasurer, Vice President and ultimately President of the Board of Directors in 2014.

Barry also serves as the administrator of the board of trustees for the York Builders Insurance Trust, served as a board member at the state level and as an alternate for the National Association of Home Builders’ board of directors.

A leader in YBA’s role in the Gates Project, Barry worked alongside other members to install gates through the West End of York City, leading to a 22% reduction of crime and a regained sense of security for residents.

His commitment to the community shows through support of the York County Economic Alliance, the York Chamber of Commerce, the MS Society, local youth groups, his 25-year volunteer career as a baseball coach and more.

“Barry has an outstanding reputation in the business community,” said YBA Executive Vice President Laurie Lourie. “He is tirelessly committed to the YBA and its members. He truly embodies the many characteristics we look for in Mack Smith Award nominees.”

The Mack Smith Award is named after charter member Mack Smith, who exemplifies characteristics such as leadership, community service, and respect, dedication to the industry, mentorship, professionalism and compassion. Individuals can be nominated each year by their peers and selected by a committee of building industry professionals.
