At the York Builders Association (YBA), we believe that building strong communities starts with lending a hand where it’s needed most. That’s why we’re proud to introduce Building Brighter, our newly launched community outreach initiative focused on improving lives and spaces across York County.
Through Building Brighter, YBA members donate their time, skills, and resources to support meaningful construction-related projects that build hope, improve lives and brighten our community. From small repairs to larger renovations, each project is selected for its potential to create a lasting, positive impact.
First Project: Accessibility Ramps for Local Veterans
The first Building Brighter project is already in motion, and it’s one we’re especially honored to support.
YBA is partnering with Servants, Inc., a local nonprofit whose Home Helps program provides essential home repairs for elderly and disabled homeowners. Together, we’re working to build accessibility ramps for veterans in York County who need safe, reliable access to their homes.
Right now, 15 veterans are waiting for a ramp that could change their daily lives, helping to prevent injury, support independence, and restore dignity. Our skilled YBA member volunteers are stepping up to make it happen, one ramp at a time.
“These ramps don’t just improve access – they restore hope,” said Laurie Lourie, Executive Vice President of YBA. “This is what Building Brighter is all about: coming together to make a tangible difference for those who’ve given so much.”

The York Builders Association accepts project proposals on a rolling basis and reviews each submission for alignment with our mission to build hope, improve lives and brighten our community.
