The York Builders Association (YBA) recently announced the 2020 recipients of the associations three scholarship programs. YBA offers a Tool Scholarship, a Trade Scholarship, and a YBA Member Scholarship a traditional scholarship for dependents of YBA members.
The Tool Scholarship is open to senior high school students beginning a career in the building trades upon graduation from a York County High School. There were two Tool Scholarships rewarded this year, both recipients received $250 from member company Schaedler Yesco, sponsor of the Tool Scholarship. The 2020 Tool Scholarship Recipients were Renee Taylor of the York County School of Technologys Carpentry Program and Eric Anderson, from Red Lion High School. Anderson will be pursuing a career in the electrical field.
The 2020 Trade Scholarship was awarded to Tyler Dubien of Dallastown High School. Dubien will be attending the PA College of Technology and pursuing a degree in Welding & Fabrication Engineering Technology. He received $1,000. Trade Scholarships are open to any senior graduating from a York County high school and pursuing a career in the skilled trades.
YBA Member Scholarships are awarded specifically to graduating seniors who are dependents or grandchildren of YBA members. There were two 2020 YBA Member Scholarship recipients awarded. Annabelle Gibson (daughter of Chris Gibson, York Building Products) of Susquehannock High School received $500. Dustin Hykes of Dallastown High School (son of Sharon Hykes of White Rose Settlement Services) received $1,000.
