Discover the Benefits of Attending the York Home and Garden Show: A Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners and Locals

Jan 12, 2024 | Events, Home & Garden Show

Are you planning your next home or outdoor project? Maybe you are a collector of ideas and inspiration for the home. Or maybe you just like to get out and do things in the community – most especially things where you can bring your dog! Even if you don’t feel like you have a green thumb, you’ve never attended a home & garden show before, and you think it might not offer anything for you, you might want to consider making an exception this year!

Why Should Homeowners (or Any Local Resident) Attend the York Home and Garden Show?

Most home and garden shows have a little something for everyone. While these local events may primarily cater to homeowners interested in services and projects for the home and outdoors, we understand that not everyone shares those interests. And since many families attend the home and garden show together, of course, we want to make sure that everyone has a good time!

Benefits of Attending the Home and Garden Show

  • It’s a great way to learn about the newest trends and technologies. Whether you’re considering a new roof and want to learn more about the latest advancements in shingles, you’re thinking about going solar, remodeling your kitchen, adding a sunroom, a new HVAC system, or you want to improve your outdoor space and need inspiration, the York Home & Garden Show is your best bet for finding it all in one place! Attendees can stroll through the UPMC Arena and explore exhibits featuring indoor and outdoor design ideas & garden displays, engage with experts on new home building, remodeling, financing, plumbing, roofing, windows, flooring, fencing, and much more.
  • Home and Garden Shows are an excellent source of inspiration. If you’re not sure what to do with your home or outdoor space next or don’t feel inspired by sitting around the house yet another winter weekend, you are sure to get some great ideas, sample some fun treats, meet new local small business owners, and even learn new things at the 2024 York Home & Garden Show!
  • Home and Garden Shows are an excellent way to meet local professionals & support local businesses. If you are looking for a service professional, remodeling expert, landscaping help, or any other service, home and garden shows let you compare and find out about options in your area. Pick up a few brochures and business cards so you know where to turn when you need a reliable professional. The York Builders Association Home & Garden Show is the only locally run home & garden show in York County, focusing on locally owned and trusted businesses.
  • You can save time and money. By having a ton of resources and solutions in one place, finding everything you need is easy. In addition, many vendors and exhibitors may offer special deals just for attendees, so you might be able to save some money, too.
  • A fun and family-friendly environment. Home shows are just a fun atmosphere and make a great excursion. In addition to every area of home specialty, the York Home & Garden Show features a variety of cash and carry vendors. Sample yummy treats and meet local vendors trying to grow their small businesses.
  • Educational sessions provide an ideal opportunity to learn something new. Last but certainly not least, if you love to learn new things, home and garden shows often have resources to help you get started. At most home & garden shows, you can even take advantage of free workshops or training sessions on a variety of topics. For example, at the 2024 York Home & Garden Show, we have four different educational sessions available to the public for free! (with admission to the Home & Garden Show)

How to Make the Most of a Home Show

Sure, you can just show up and stroll through a home show. It’s a great way to get out, see new things, and meet new people! But to make the most of your visit to the York Home & Garden Show this year, here are a few tips:

  • Plan ahead. Before you show up, look up the educational sessions and vendors and decide where you want to visit and what you want to see. Check the growing list of York home and garden show exhibitors so you can be sure to get to the areas and meet the people that interest you.
  • Leave some space for fun and exploration. Leave yourself some time to wander around and peek at those areas you might assume are not your priority. Inspiration can strike anywhere!
  • Stay organized. Be sure to capture information. Take photos or make notes so you remember what you have learned or who impressed you at the event. Once you get home, keep the flyers, brochures, and other materials in a file folder or binder so you can use them to jump-start your home or outdoor plans.
  • Follow up after the show. If you meet exhibitors you think might be helpful to you as you start on your spring home improvement projects, contact them. Remember that many professionals get booked up quickly after a home show, so you will want to get on their calendars promptly.
