50th Annual Home & Garden Show Brings Vendors & Prospective Clients Together at York Expo Center
Thousands of consumers hit the Utz Arena at The York Expo Center earlier this month to attend the 50th Annual Home & Garden Show. The annual show is hosted by The York Builders Association (YBA) and the 2018 Presenting Sponsor was York Traditions Bank.
YBA Selected to Adopt Construction Career Day Event
In April of this year, the York County Economic Alliance (YCEA) launched its pilot event, Construction Career Day, in cooperation with Stewart & Tate and an area high school. The program was developed to mirror YCEA’s successful Manufacturing Days program, which started in 2015. The York Builders Association’s Board of Directors have approved the request for YBA to adopt the Construction Career Day event.
Governor Signs PA Builder Legislation to Fix Building Code Adoption Process
On October 25, 2017 Governor Wolf signed House Bill 409 – PBA’s long-awaited reforms and updates to the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code (PA UCC). Act 36 of 2017 extensively revises the code review process undertaken by the Department of Labor and Industry’s Review and Advisory Council (RAC) for future updates.
Association to Focus on Career Awareness for Building Industry
The York Builders Association Board of Directors recently approved the creation of a volunteer committee to focus on career awareness in the trades, developing resources and strengthening career advising. Our hope is to achieve more skilled workers to fill the jobs of today and tomorrow.
