Landscaping cleans up at remodeling awards. Lush plantings, meandering pathways, tranquil water features, and perfectly placed seating commanding breathtaking views of York, were the big winners at the York Builders Association’s remodeling Awards of Excellence banquet. Brian Waltersdorf of Hively Landscapes won a People’s Choice Award, Grand Award, and the John H. Myers & Son Choice Award for an extensive landscape project.
Another unique project that won an Honorable Mention Award was intricate, cast scroll Victorian-style railings crafted by Hess Ornamental Iron.
These are just a few of the many remarkable remodeling projects that local remodeling and landscaping companies entered into the awards competition, hosted by the York Builders Association for more than 20 years. “People drool over the homes they see on HGTV and wish they could do something similar to their home” shares Dan Wisotzkey, 2015 RAE Chair. “Part of the reason we host this annual awards competition is to show homeowners that there are talented remodelers right here in York who can make their home look like it belongs on TV.”
Along with the judging done by remodeling industry professionals, the public was asked to vote for their favorite projects in the categories of Kitchen, Bath, Interior/Exterior Specialty, Residential Remodeling, and Outdoor Living Projects. Judging took place from March 9th through the 16th with the winners being announced at the banquet which was held on April 8th. Chad Kennell was the lucky winner of a $100 Visa Gift Card sponsored by PeoplesBank.
