Honoring Betsy Rosengrant Stein: A Legacy of Leadership and Dedication at York Builders Association

Dec 17, 2024 | Announcements, Member Announcements, Member Shout Out

For over two decades, Betsy Rosengrant Stein has been an integral part of the York Builders Association (YBA) Board, leaving an indelible mark on both the association and the York County building community. As owner and president of K.D. Rosengrant Building & Remodeling, a company that joined YBA in 1978, Betsy took on a leadership role in the family business, building on the foundation laid by her father. Together, they made history as the first father-daughter team to serve as YBA Board members and as YBA Board Presidents—a legacy that underscores their commitment to the industry and the association.

Since joining the Board in 2003, Betsy has served in multiple capacities, including as Secretary, Treasurer, Past President, and, most notably, as the first female President in 2007. Her pioneering leadership “broke through the glass ceiling,” a proud milestone in her career and a pivotal moment in YBA’s history. Beyond her Board service, Betsy has been an active member and leader within YBA committees and councils, such as the Remodeler’s Council Steering Committee (serving as Chair for two years), the Remodeling Awards of Excellence, the Women’s Council, and the Membership Committee. Her commitment to elevating the industry and fostering community has been consistently recognized; she holds distinctions from the National Association of Home Builders, including certifications as a Certified Graduate Remodeler and Certified Green Professional, and has earned a Life Spike for her recruitment efforts.

In recognition of her dedication, Betsy was honored with the prestigious Mack Smith Award, which celebrates individuals who exemplify commitment to YBA’s goals and vision while making lasting contributions to the building profession and community.

Throughout her tenure, Betsy has consistently championed the association’s role in protecting the interests of industry professionals, while also forging meaningful connections and friendships. As Betsy moves into retirement, she leaves an impressive legacy of service and mentorship. Her passion for fostering new talent will continue as she remains involved with YBA’s Workforce NOW® Foundation, reflecting her ongoing commitment to supporting the next generation of building trade professionals.

Thank you, Betsy, for your years of service, leadership, and enthusiasm for YBA’s mission. Your legacy will continue to inspire our members and the York County community for many years to come.
