The York Builders Association Board of Directors recently approved the creation of a volunteer committee to focus on career awareness in the trades, developing resources and strengthening career advising. Our hope is to achieve more skilled workers to fill the jobs of today and tomorrow.
Naionally there is a shortage of individuals choosing a career in the trades. According to the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) construction laborers will see a growth of 147,000 jobs from 2014-2024. The opportunity for a career in the trades is almost limitless. National average incomes for trade professionals range from carpentry positions at $48,500 to electrical positions at $55,770.
The committee will develop a mission, goals and objectives to guide the programs and support we want to deliver. If you would like to learn more about the committee and be part of it’s implimentation please contact Melissa Longenberger.
