Building Stronger Communities, One Project at a Time
Through our Community Outreach Projects, YBA members come together to support local nonprofit organizations by donating their time, skills, and resources. These hands-on projects focus on improving spaces that serve the greater good, from renovating youth centers to enhancing accessibility and functionality for community facilities. By sourcing materials and skilled labor – we’re proud to create lasting impact where it’s needed most in York County.

From Vision to Reality: Our Community Impact
Children’s Home of York: Snoezelen® Sensory Room
York Builders Association members came together to construct a Snoezelen® sensory room and two private phone rooms at the Children’s Home of York, donating all labor and materials to bring the project to life. Thirteen member companies contributed their time, skills, and resources. Despite working in a secure, lived-in facility with unique challenges, members completed the project in just one month—creating a safe, therapeutic space that is already making a lasting difference for CHOY youth.
Leg Up Farms: Matthew’s Town
The Pennsylvania Builders Association Associates Council, in collaboration with the York Builders Association, successfully completed a year-long fundraising and renovation project to support Leg Up Farm—a nonprofit providing innovative therapies for children with special needs. The project focused on completing and enhancing Matthew’s Town, a scaled-down indoor city designed to deliver interactive, kinetic therapies in a playful, engaging environment. With the support of member volunteers, donors, and skilled contractors, several unfinished spaces were transformed with new construction, custom finishes, lighting, and signage. Contributions of time, materials, and expertise from PBA and YBA members helped create a more functional and inspiring therapeutic space for the children and families served by Leg Up Farm.
This project utilized Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles by installing secure iron gates with locks—enhancing safety and creating a more secure environment for the community.
York Builders Association members volunteered their time and skills to install handicap ramps at several community locations. These ramps improve accessibility and independence for individuals with mobility challenges, making everyday spaces safer and more inclusive
