Clone Your Judgment: On Every Job Without Being on Every Job
Instructor: Justin Shaffer, Growth Navigator Solutions
Crystal Ballroom
Seminar Description
You built the company on your standard. The work holds up because you’re the one making sure it does. That’s what got you to this point. It’s also the thing holding you back now.
You can’t be on every jobsite. And you already know you can’t hire your way out of it, because you’ve tried. Every recruiting play out there, and you’re still short the people you actually need. What you’re really looking for is your own judgment, and no one comes through the door with that already built. You have to build it into them.
I spent 20 years in the Army building leaders who held the standard when I wasn’t there to hold it for them. That’s the same challenge you’re facing now. In this hour I’ll show you how to get your standard onto every job without being on every job, by growing the people already on your crew.
Here’s what you’ll walk out with:
- Why people struggle when you promote them, and how to build their judgment before the title instead of after
- How to develop your team through feedback, coaching, and real jobsite experience, so your standard sticks whether you’re standing there or not.
- How one simple playbook carries your judgment to every crew and every jobsite, even the ones you never see
You’re still the standard. You just stop being the only one who can hold it.
About the Keynote Instructor
As a former Army Special Operations leader and now founder of Growth Navigator Solutions, I’ve spent my career helping leaders perform at their highest level—whether in combat zones or boardrooms. Today, I work with business owners and leadership teams to align their people, purpose, and processes so they can achieve scalable, sustainable growth.
Over two decades in Army Aviation taught me that the best teams aren’t built by chance—they’re built through clarity, trust, and deliberate leadership. The same holds true in business. When leaders understand how their mindset, communication, and structure influence the talent they attract and retain, everything changes.

Recruitment Marketing for the Trades: How to Attract, Engage, and Convert Better Candidates
Instructor: Abby McGinnis, GRIT Marketing Group

Seminar Description
If your company is a great place to work, why aren’t more qualified candidates applying? Finding qualified employees has become one of the biggest challenges facing construction and trades businesses today. In this interactive session, attendees will learn why recruiting is no longer just an HR function, but a marketing opportunity. Through practical exercises and real-world examples, participants will identify what makes their company a great place to work, develop stronger recruitment messaging, and explore strategies and channels for attracting both active and passive candidates. Attendees will leave with practical ideas and an actionable recruitment marketing blueprint they can put to work immediately.

Building Success Through Better Communication: Connecting the Office, Field, and Customer
Instructor: Butch Eberly, Yoe Construction
Crystal Ballroom
Seminar Description
In construction, great communication is just as important as great craftsmanship. Every successful project depends on the seamless flow of information between the office, the job site, and the customer. When communication breaks down, projects experience delays, rework, budget overruns, safety concerns, and frustrated clients. When communication is clear, consistent, and timely, projects run more efficiently, teams work together more effectively, and customer confidence grows.
This seminar will focus on practical communication strategies that improve collaboration throughout every phase of a construction project. Attendees will learn how to establish clear expectations, communicate proactively, document important information, manage difficult conversations, and create accountability between project managers, superintendents, foremen, office staff, and customers.
Through real-world construction examples and proven best practices, participants will discover how effective communication strengthens relationships, increases productivity, reduces costly mistakes, and enhances the overall customer experience. Whether you work in the office, in the field, or directly with clients, you’ll leave with practical tools you can begin using immediately to improve teamwork and project success.
Because in construction, the quality of your communication is just as important as the quality of your work.
About the Instructor
Butch Eberly has worked in the construction industry for more than 50 years. His career began in 1975, working for his father at Yoe Concrete, Inc. In 1995, Butch purchased the business from his father. After leading the company for seven years, he realized there was still much to learn about managing a successful construction company.
In 2002, Butch sold the business to a local construction company. For the next seven years, he had the opportunity to oversee the company’s operations and gain a greater understanding of the importance of effective communication.
In 2010, Butch told his wife he was ready to return to business ownership. Communication was simple at first—it was just Butch sitting in his basement, emailing customers and generating work. As the company grew, clear and consistent communication became increasingly important at every level.
Today, Butch leads a full-service industrial construction company with more than 100 employees, completing projects throughout the United States. Through decades of experience, he has learned that strong communication between the office, the field, and the customer is one of the most important keys to a successful construction company.
